DISTRICT KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2021-22
Thiruvananthapuram District Karate Championship 2021 successfully held. The Kerala Karate Association (KKA) is the only recognized
karate association in Kerala recognized by the Kerala State Sports Council and the Kerala Olympic Association.The Sports Karate Association of Ruwananthapuram (SKAT), the only recognized district karate association of the Kerala Karate Association (KKA) in Thiruvananthapuram district, organized the Thiruvananthapuram District Level Karate Championship on November 6 and 7 at the Attingal Sripadam Indoor Stadium.The winners of this championship will represent Thiruvananthapuram district in the state championship organized by the Kerala Karate Association in December.The championship was well attended by the karate athletes. In addition to the 250 players from 19 clubs registered with SKAT, more than 100 karate players from around 10 unregistered clubs participated in the championship.The matches of the day were charted and announced in advance so that only the contestants of the day had to come on the day to avoid congestion as well as help the contestants.
Attingal MLA Mrs. OS Ambika inaugurated the championship at a function presided over by SKAT President Sensei R Suraj. Attingal Municipal Council President Adv S Kumari, Thiruvananthapuram District Olympic Association Secretary Viju Verma and KTCT Hospital Chairman PJ Nahas were also present. Mr. Paramesh was also present as the observer of the District Olympic Association. The championship was held with the best participation in the four disciplines of karate: Individual Kata, Team Kata, Individual Kumite and Team Kumite.All of the major events were of high quality competition.Rangan RK won gold in all four events in the men's event and Amrita Vijayan won gold in all five events in the women's event.
